Katana vs Greatsword in Loot To Forge?
Choose the tab before you spend Fire Crystal. The skill pool will not convert if you later wish you had the other type.

Phantom Violet is a Katana data point
The only fully written example combo in the grok dump is a Katana. That does not mean Greatsword is worse — it means Katana has one named craft. Greatsword footage instead shows preview % going to 100% when enough matching high ores are slotted.
Late clips still use both
Players who can 100% a Katana with four high ores still keep a Greatsword as the chunk option. You can own both; the equipped one is the Q you have right now.

How do I forge a Loot To Forge sword?
Full recipe rules live on forge. This is the sword-only checklist so you do not drop a Helmet craft by leaving Armor selected.

Patch-local names are not a third type
Clips name pieces such as Infernal Overlord as a then-best Greatsword, or chase a 100% Katana with four high ores. Those names rotate with Enhance updates. Public types stay Katana and Greatsword. Record rarity, tooltip Power, and the rolled Q — not a video title.
Sell the old sword
Recaps say you can sell older swords for Coins. Do that after the new piece is equipped, not before, so you are never unarmed in the corridor.
Power on the tooltip
Clips quote huge Power numbers on late swords. Early crafts will look tiny. Compare to the stage damage warning, not to a late-game screenshot.

How does a Loot To Forge sword get its Q skill?
Each forge of a Katana or Greatsword rolls one skill from that type’s pool. Ranks run D / C / B / A / S / SS. You cannot buy a skill. Skill Index in the lobby is a catalog.

Re-rolling means re-forging
There is no separate skill vendor. If Q is a D Light Slash and you wanted SS, you spend ores again. Check the skills tables before you burn Fire Crystal.
When should I enchant a Loot To Forge sword?
Recaps: select the weapon at the Enchant station, spend Coins (and Tower runes). About two runes per weapon. Skip Enchant on a sword you are about to sell.

100% preview is a tab lock, not a named recipe
Greatsword footage shows the preview jumping to 100% when enough matching high ores sit in the slots, then dropping to 85% if you pull one out. Katana footage shows a 100% Katana lock with four of the same high ore. That HUD % is the closest thing to a recipe this wiki will treat as real. It still does not name Phantom Violet for you — that remains the four-ore player report on forge.
